About Advances in Pneumology
About AIP
Advances in Pneumology (AIP) is an international scientific association operating in the field of pneumology, respiratory medicine, and respiratory rehabilitation. Founded in 2005 as an initiative of European academics and clinicians, AIP has evolved into a consolidated international platform dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge, clinical innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration in respiratory health.
The Association promotes the development, dissemination, and clinical application of cutting-edge research in respiratory diseases, integrating basic science, clinical research, and evidence-based clinical practice. Today, AIP involves experts from numerous countries and plays an active role within the European and international scientific landscape.
Who we are
Advances in Pneumology was established to create a high-level international forum capable of fostering integrative clinical and research exchanges. The Association addresses the growing complexity of respiratory diseases by encouraging dialogue between fundamental research and real-world clinical application. AIP is guided by an international Scientific Committee composed of authoritative experts in respiratory sciences. Among the leading figures:
Prof. Mieczysław Pokorski
Professor of Medicine, Institute of Health Sciences, Opole University (Poland), Scientific Director and promoter of AIP activities.
Prof. Kurt Rasche
Professor of Pneumology, former Director of the Department of Pneumology, Allergology, Sleep and Respiratory Medicine at HELIOS Universitätsklinikum Wuppertal – University of Witten/Herdecke (Germany), Scientific Director and Conference Host.
This governance structure ensures scientific rigor, independence, transparency, and high clinical relevance across all activities. The Association is addressed to pulmonologists, clinicians, basic and clinical researchers, rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, neuropsychologists, nurses, medical and Ph.D. students, and all healthcare professionals engaged in respiratory medicine.
Mission
The mission of Advances in Pneumology (AIP) is to advance scientific and clinical excellence in respiratory medicine by promoting research, innovation, and continuing professional education. The Association supports the development and application of evidence-based knowledge to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
AIP fulfills its mission by:
-
Organizing international scientific conferences
-
Supporting translational and multidisciplinary research
-
Promoting evidence-based clinical practice
-
Translating scientific discoveries into targeted therapies
-
Advancing diagnostic and rehabilitative models of care
Through these activities, AIP strengthens scientific understanding and fosters high standards in respiratory medicine.
Vision
The vision of Advances in Pneumology (AIP) is to become a leading international reference point for innovation and collaboration in respiratory medicine and pulmonary rehabilitation. The Association seeks to shape the future of pneumology through scientific rigor and global cooperation, taking advantage especially of the annual conferences
AIP pursues this vision by:
-
Advancing precision and personalized respiratory care
